Unit Record Report

The Unit Record provides comprehensive information about Washington students who receive need-based financial aid and the type and amount of assistance they receive.

The Higher Education Coordinating Board collects and analyzes these data to better understand who is benefiting from financial aid programs and how well federal, state, institutional, and other aid sources are meeting student need.

The board uses this information to evaluate state financial aid programs, to support budget requests for state financial aid programs, and to improve service to students.

For Aid Administrators
Every college and university that participates in the State Need Grant program is required to complete the Unit Record Report at the end of each fiscal year.

2009 Unit Record Manual (2008-09 Academic Year)
This manual provides instructions for completing the Unit Record, data definitions, and the record layout.

Unit Record updates were reviewed during this year's financial aid workshops, the training materials are linked below.
